Unknown Speaker 0:57

Hello, hello, you guys. It's me, Djemilah Birnie here. And I am so excited. There has been so many amazing things and just like, stuff happening in my world in my life. If you are following me on my social media, I guess more really, my Facebook is really where I've been talking about this, then you might have heard, but I have a new book coming out. And this book is just, I'm just so happy with how this project has turned out. The book is becoming the big me the great conquest. And it is a collection of empowering stories that I brought together for you guys. And really, um, I want I knew, I've always known that I was going to put out a multi author book, I had no idea when I didn't really know how it was going to like I didn't know how it was going to manifest. But I've known for a while that a multi author book is something that I want to do. Because I just love collaborating with other incredible souls who are just doing big things who are doing amazing things. And I realized after I published my first book by myself, just based on the feedback that I was receiving from people on social media, and my messages and whatnot, was that there are so many people out there who have this desire to become an author, there are so many people out there who have this desire to get their story to the world. And, and the problem is, is they just don't know how, I mean, I can't tell you how many messages I got from people who were like, I already have my manuscript written, like I have a story. And I've been sitting on it, I've been sitting on it for years, because I don't know how to, to do it. I don't know how to get it out there to the world. And I completely understand that feeling. Because until I figured it out, I felt the exact same way.

Unknown Speaker 3:22

We live in a world where

Unknown Speaker 3:26

information is so easy to obtain get information is also really hard to obtain. I'm not sure if that makes any sense. But let me explain basically, because of the internet, just because of the the world that we currently live in, anyone can put information out there.

Unknown Speaker 3:47

And, and because of that, we don't always know if it's reliable. So if you are wanting to become and there's also a lot of people, companies, businesses, different things out there that that kind of take advantage of people.

Unknown Speaker 4:04

By not really. Yeah, I mean, there's just there's a lot of companies out there that just definitely take advantage of people I was trying to spin that in like a positive light or something but no, I mean, it's a reality of of our world. And it's something that we all need to be aware of, especially in the internet age, because how easy is it to pop up a quick old website and make some freaking, I don't know pay some people to give you some testimonials or something like that. And bada bing bada boom, you are a white hat operation springs up out of nowhere and can start obtaining clients pretty much like that is the world that we do live in. So it is important to have discernment, but

Unknown Speaker 4:49

I think that people have a misconception of, of how easy becoming an author truly is. Now I'm not saying easy

Unknown Speaker 5:00

Like it's like a simple thing or a simple task, but it's there's not a massive paywall, there's not as much as one we've been sold. And two, we allow our limiting beliefs to tell us that there is. And there's so many, you know, there's all of these different programs out there that are going after the, you know, coaches or going after online entrepreneurs or going after individual creatives and individual artists who want to write and who want to get their stories to the world. And they are offering them services for large exuberance amounts. And for the typical small business owner, or for the typical creative person investing, you know, five figures into a book maybe isn't feasible. And what I gathered from the conversations that I was having with these people,

Unknown Speaker 6:01

is that so many wanted to get their work to the world, but they just stopped really trying to publish, they really they stopped trying to actually push it out there. Because they had this misconception that that was going to be such a large cost that they could not achieve it. Right. And yeah, there are, there definitely costs coming into publishing. And it does depend how you want to publish your book, it does depend on where you want your book to be available, how you know, what's your goal with the book, what are you trying to do with your book, and, and all of these different things. But what I realized, from the majority of the people that I was speaking with, they were there were small creatives who just wanted to get their work to the world, you know, they just wanted to publish it, they wanted to get it to their friends and families and get it to their community. That's, that's really what their goal was. And, and you guys, I don't know if I don't know if I've actually talked about this on this podcast. I know I talk about it on social media and different platforms all the time. But you guys, if you want to publish a book, if you want to write a book, it is not that incredibly difficult. Okay, it takes time. Yes, it does take time, it does take effort, I'm not going to try and say that it doesn't. But it is extremely obtainable. And you don't need a large budget, you really, really don't, you could, you could publish a book for practically free. And practically, you know, depending on your skill sets and the time that you want to invest. But if you're willing to invest the time, you can pretty much publish your book for free through Amazon KDP, Amazon Kindle Direct print, where they actually will print physical copies of your books and do it print on demand. So you do not have to invest and buy and hold inventory of your book hoping that you can sell it. Now it is nice to obviously have inventory of your book for promotional purposes. But if you really are, if you really are on a tight budget, you can get your work to the world

Unknown Speaker 8:25

through KDP, it is going to take time there are these different things. And I actually so I actually did create a PDF document just outlining how to do that, that I do give out to people on my Facebook through my DMS and stuff like that I don't have I don't currently have like any place where you can go to just get that but if you would like that if you are interested in becoming an author, if you're interested in how to do the bit this is like the very very basic like minimum budget, how to publish on Amazon KDP then feel free to find me on Facebook and you can you can message me we can chat I'm would be happy to chat with you about that I love helping authors and small creatives to get their word to the world because their word and our work because we feel like it's so hard and it's hard to take them on. It's really not. If you have a message and a mission, like you can do it. But anyways, I got kind of sidetracked on the happens. So this book becoming the big me the great conquest is a multi author book that really stemmed from my desire to help other other people get their mission and their message to the world. You know, I already have the this podcast becoming the big new podcast where I interview amazing people and through that I have connected with just some of the most incredible souls. And that's really kind of how this book

Unknown Speaker:

That's really kind of how this book came about is after I self published my first book and achieved, you know, Amazon bestseller status and really started getting a lot of messages from people regarding becoming an author. And regarding getting their work out there, I realized, like, let's make let's make this more obtainable for for people. And so one, I created a quick document, like I already said, that just outline the very basic steps of Amazon self publishing, because I just wanted people to know, like, I had so many messages from people, I was like, yo, let's get this information because so like this information is not that. it like it's simple, but it but it's hard to find that's trusting. And oftentimes it's behind a paywall. And I know that as someone who has literally built from nothing, who was living in a tent, who was addicted to drugs, and had to completely turn my life around and build from nothing, I understand what that's like. And I understand how frustrating it can be when it seems like every next level is behind a paywall. Right. And so I created this document, really, because I just had so many independent artists and creatives reaching out who wanted to get their work to the world. So if you want to do that, find me on Facebook base these days or somewhere and send me a message and I will send that to you, as well. But that was also part of what inspired this book, and it has turned into so much more than I originally thought it was gonna be.

Unknown Speaker:

Which is kind of like, what happens oftentimes with me is I, you know, I just kind of like follow the the nudges, I follow what I'm feeling guided towards doing. And oftentimes I don't fully understand what that project is going to turn into, I don't fully understand the magnitude behind what I'm creating, or what it's going to turn into. And this book inspired me to start the becoming the big new blog as well, because I was like, gosh, there's so many people and I can't get them all into the book. And I want to feature more people. And I want to get more business information to people to small business owners, and creatives who are on a mission to make a positive change, who are on a mission to actually help people you know, who are who care. And I want to help them get from wherever they are in their journey to the next level. And oftentimes, I understand when you're at the beginning parts of your journey, you can't, you can't necessarily pay for the information to get to the next level. So I created the blog to inspire people feature other awesome people and also give give the nitty gritty business information that I wish that I would have known when I first started.

Unknown Speaker:

On that note, I guess I might as well since we're talking about books, since we're talking about all that stuff, I might as well share with you that I have another book coming as well. And this is through the local crown, which is a marketing agency which helps small businesses expand their impact and get their digital web presence, everything that they need their whole ecosystem CRM like all of that stuff. So this is a book that I wrote with them and with Trey my partner to do exactly what I was saying give the information to the small businesses

Unknown Speaker:

that they need because we understand you know, at local crown that our services are not necessarily cheap. And there's a reason for that is because we understand the quality we understand the value and we also understand that there is need for different levels of education on your business journey and we realized that we could make such a greater impact if we made something that we can give to brand new business owners who did not have the funds who do not have a marketing budget who don't have the that stuff quite yet.

Unknown Speaker:

And so we created this book, which is basically just a textbook I mean it is a guidebook It is our combined like our combined me and trades combine knowledge of the online and marketing and local brick and mortar space and cutting through the noise of like what is it that you actually need? What are the bare bones things that you need? What can you start with? And then how can you expand it from there covering all of the media and just all that good stuff. So there's another book that we have coming out as well through the local crown and that is the local it's local market siege.

Unknown Speaker:

And yeah, so books, books, books, books, like it's just crazy. And on the next episode, I'm not gonna this episode

Unknown Speaker:

or should I should I dive into it? Should I share? Okay, I guess I will. I'll I will a little bit. So why

Unknown Speaker:

Do I love books so much? Well, one I'm I love to write. And it's something I've always loved to do. But really why I love books so incredibly much is because it's such a powerful long term media play, it's something that is going to continue to work for you over time. It's something that you can leverage in so many different ways that opens so many different doors of opportunities for you, especially if you think creatively, you could leverage your book, to start your speaking career or a coaching or consulting or working with schools or working in a specific target market, you can leverage book to launch into so many different things. The other reason why books are so powerful is because this is a long form piece of content that you cannot repurpose, for forever for the rest of your life, you created it. Everything in there is content that you made that you can now go through, if you don't know what to post one day on social media, open your book to a random page and post a quote, right, like books are just so, so awesome. As far as a way to deliver content, in my personal opinion. With my experience in marketing, as you guys, you know, know, I've been in marketing in some way shape or form for the past decade. And through both corporate and small business sides. And

Unknown Speaker:

you the way that you can leverage books as far as search, the way that you can leverage books, as far as brand building is just incredibly powerful. And it's a great way to help get your message to a wide audience. Because typically books are very affordable. So if you have something to teach, or you have something to share, or you have, you know, just anything that you want to share to a large amount of people while helping you expand your brand and your authority, books are awesome, books are the way to go. And I, I just I love them. They're amazing. I love reading books, I love physically turning pages. So I think that's part of my personal attraction towards them. But also like, as much as I like as much as they do. I want to do it in the most efficient way possible. And books, combine things that I like, combines writing combines everything that I enjoy doing. And it allows me to do things efficiently. It's a very efficient way for me to deliver information, in my personal opinion. So that's that's kind of quickly why I like books, but I will do another episode more in depth on to the power of books, but I hope that you guys enjoy this episode. And yeah, so the becoming the big neither great conquest book is coming out in October. So go ahead and go to the great conquest calm. And you can read more about the book. And you can also read more about the incredible authors that I have in the book as well. And I am so excited because I had the great pleasure of being able to interview Sharon lechter actually for this book, the author of you know, the co author of rich dad poor dad and the author of thinking Grow Rich for women and the author who annotated outwitting the devil by Napoleon Hill, one of my just one of my mentors, someone that I looked up to so much and and I had the great pleasure of being able to interview her for this book. So yeah, I would very much appreciate it if we all went to the great conquest comm sign up for the waiting list and check it out. I built that site. I'm so proud of it. Like I put I was originally just gonna make a little landing page. I was like, oh, I'll just I haven't built a book website before for myself for any of my previous books. I haven't done that. But I've wanted to do something special because I do have other authors in here. So I wanted to make a landing page and knew the whole thing the right way. And I ended up building like a full fledge website, not just the landing page kind of happened. I don't know the flow caught me the universe said let's go. We're building a website, not just the landing page. So go, go Go to the great conquest calm and go check it out. I would really appreciate it just even just, you know, because I made it and it's beautiful. Go look at it. Awesome. All right, you guys. That is all for today and I'll chat with you next time.
